On October 1, 1924, the American Society of Clinical Investigation published the first issue of the JCI. Over the last 100 years, JCI’s mission has been to provide a forum for research exploring mechanisms underlying human health and disease. To celebrate this century of scientific discovery, JCI is featuring a special collection of articles that highlight major innovations in medicine, with a spotlight on the key mechanistic studies that contributed to these advances. Additionally, this collection also explores outstanding questions to be tackled in the next century. Look for 100th anniversary viewpoint articles throughout 2024 from esteemed leaders in biomedical research, including Jeff Flier and Rex Ahima, Daniel Drucker, Barbara Salvodo, Michael Brown and Joseph Goldstein, Susan Quaggin, Robert Lefkowitz and Howard Rockman, and many more.
